Prosecutors are probing at least two officials with ANAS on charges of corruption and auction rigging, according to investigative sources.
Previously, sources close to the investigation had mentioned alleged bribes for 400,000 euros.
Work on the "SS 340 'Regina'- Variante Tremezzina" was worth over 388 million euros.
The bribes were allegedly paid to the two officials in two separate occasions according to the investation, which led to ANAS offices in Rome and Milan being searched on Thursday.
According to the search order, Stefano Liani, who was "in charge" of the agency's "department for planning and the realization of work" between 2015 and 2019, according to the court papers, "received" from Consorzio Stabile Sis a total of 485,896 euros between 2018 and 2021.
Another person under investigation, Eutimio Mucilli, who replaced Liani and was in charge of investments and the realization of construction projects startint from 2022 at ANAS, allegedly received from the same company over 360,000 euros.
According to the court papers, Liani now works for ANAS in Tuscany.
