Italy's unemployment rose to 6.2% in
December, up 0.3 of a percentage point on the previous month,
according to provisional data released by Istat on Thursday.
The national statistics agency added that the jobless rate for
under-25s who are active on the labour market fell by 0.1 of a
point to 19.4%.
It said the number of people in employment was stable with
respect to November at 24.065 million.
It said that the number of people in work was up by 274,000
(1.2%) on December 2023.
Istat said Italy's employment rate is December was 62.3%, down
0.1 of a point on the previous month.
The inactivity rate fell 0.2 of a point to 33.5%.
