Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday conferred over the phone and
focused on the development of European defence capabilities,
Palazzo Chigi said.
The two leaders conferred in view of the informal summit on
European defense on February 3, said the premier's office.
"At the center of the conversation were the development of
European defense capabilities and the strengthening of the
competitiveness of the defense industrial sector", the note
said.
"Possible methods of financing the necessary investments were
also discussed", the press release stated.
