The operation to build a new stadium
in Milan's San Siro area is worth 1.2 billion euros, according
to a dossier presented on Tuesday by football clubs Inter and AC
Milan to the municipal administration.
The facility will accommodate 71,500 places and is set to be
operational 365 days a year, according to the 250-page dossier
which explains how the area of the clubs' current home would be
transformed after its acquisition by the Serie A giants.
On Monday, Milan's City Council published the public tender for
the sale.
The construction of the stadium alone, which according to the
project would be completed by 2031, would be worth around 700
million euros.
The two clubs' project would include building a new stadium and
developing the surrounding area into a citadel of sport with a
museum, stores, offices, a hotel and green area, along with
guidelines on the 'refunctionalization' of the iconic San Siro,
whose official name is the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The two clubs would buy the 98-year-old stadium and the area
from the city council.
