A 58-year-old Italian woman with a
criminal record for petty theft on Tuesday confessed to killing
and 89-year-old Trieste resident after the latter caught her
stealing money from her home.
Erika Podmenich, from Trieste, told police she had first
strangled Isabella Tregnaghi with a scarf and then cut her
throat in a fight after she was surprised stealing cash and
valuables in Tregnaghi's house in the northeastern Italian port
city.
