Italian Alpine skiing great Federica
Brignone was taken to hospital in Trento by helicopter on
Thursday after a nasty fall on the slopes of Val di Fassa while
taking part in the giant slalom in the Italian Assoluti
championships.
This season the 34-year has won overall, downhill and giant
slalom World Cup titles after a stunning campaign.
Brignone is the most successful Italian woman skier and her 37
World Cup wins put her behind only the great Alberto Tomba, on
50, for both sexes.
