Italian Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone
on Friday took over as the new Chair of the NATO Military
Committee, the alliance's top military position.
He replaces Dutch Admiral Robert Bauer, who had been at the helm
of the committee for three years.
"My election as chair of the Military Committee, strongly
supported by Defence Minister (Guido) Crosetto and of which I am
truly honoured, shows the trust that my colleagues, the Joint
Chiefs of Staff of NATO countries, have placed in me, but it is
also a consolidated recognition of Italy's importance and its
fundamental role in the Atlantic forum;" Cavo Dragone told ANSA.
