Genoa prosecutors have opened an
investigation into the Seajewel, a Maltese-flagged tanker moored
off Savona with gash in its hull caused by an explosion, sources
said on Wednesday.
The ship is reportedly part of the "shadow fleet" of tankers
allegedly used to bring fuel from Russia to Europe in
contravention of Western sanctions.
Italian Navy divers have inspected the ship's hull for a second
time, the sources said.
