Six Italian film directors are
presenting their latest works at the 49th Toronto International
Film Festival from September 5 to 15.
The start of the fest, known for showcasing indie films,
overlaps the Venice Film Festival which runs from August 28 to
September 7 at the Lido.
The six are Luca Guadagnino, Cosima Spender, Giovanni Tortorici,
Maura Delpero, Roberto Minervini and Uberto Pasolini.
Call Me By Your Name helmer Guadagnino's Queer will have its
North American premiere, in the special presentations section
alongside Delpero's Vermiglio and Pedro Almodóvar's The Room
Next Door.
Spender's superstar tenor biopic Andrea Bocelli: Because I
Believe will also premiere, as will Pasolini's The Return, while
Tortorici's Diciannove will make its international debut and
Minervini's The Damned its North American debut.
