The Amerigo Vespucci completed its
mooring manoeuvres and tied up at the port of Tokyo at 14:40
local time (07:40 in Italy), in line with its schedule. It is
its first visit to Japan.
The historic sailing ship and training ship of the Italian Navy
is in the midst of a World Tour, which started in Genoa in July
2023, which will take it to 31 countries, reaching over 30 ports
in five continents.
In little more than a year, up to Tokyo, the sailing boat has
travelled almost 34,000 miles.
In the last stretch, which was the longest of the tour, the
Vespucci sailed to Japan from Honolulu, in the Hawaian Islands,
covering 3,630 miles.
