Yesterday in the Lithuanian city of Panevezys, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Vilnius and the Italian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce, the extraordinary edition of the 'Purgatory Lunch', the culinary event organised annually by the Purgatory Brotherhood of the city of Gradoli, took place.
The event, which took place for the first time outside the Latium municipality, was organised as part of the European 'Ignite' project, in which the municipality of Panevezys, the People&Europe Cooperation association of Gradoli, and the Czech municipality of Jevisovice participate.
The proceeds from the lunch, prepared using mostly Italian products and attended by 180 people, were entirely donated to the Ukrainian NGO 'We are near' based in Vynnitsia, a partner city of Panevezys, and committed to supporting women in difficulty.
An institutional meeting was held alongside the event between the first secretary of the Italian embassy in Lithuania, Alice Barberis, and the mayors of Panevezys (Rytis Rackauskas) and Gradoli (Carlo Benedettucci).
