A signing ceremony was held today in Tbilisi to launch for the first time a financial cooperation between Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), one of the leading financial institutions of the Italian state, and the Georgian leasing institution JSC TBC Leasing ('TBCL').
The initiative, which includes a EUR 10 million loan from CDP to TBCL, aims to increase the latter's leasing portfolio in favour of local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in order to promote their financial inclusion in the country. The financing is part of the agreement related to the 'InclusiFI' initiative, a guarantee programme promoted by the European Union.
The event was attended by numerous guests and speakers, including representatives of TBC, CDP, National Bank of Georgia. Deputy Minister of Economy Vakhtang Tsintsadze, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski, and Ambassador of Italy to Georgia Massimiliano D'Antuono spoke.
"Small and medium-sized enterprises are the heart of Italy's industrial fabric. The operation between CDP and TBC therefore reflects the priority that the Italian State traditionally gives to this sector, with the desire to be able to share the 'good practices' we have developed with partner countries such as Georgia, which is also rich in very dynamic micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. - ambassador D'Antuono stressed in his speech - By facilitating access to the financial market, we therefore hope that this operation will favour the growth of the beneficiary companies, with obvious positive repercussions on the prosperity and general well-being of Georgian society and economy. I am happy that Italy, through CDP, can also make its contribution in this sector, once again highlighting the great friendship and positive cooperation that unites Italy and Georgia".
