There was great public success in Sarajevo for Italian Design Day, promoted by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with Ice Agency. The historic headquarters of the Sarajevo Municipality, the Vijećnica, hosted the screening of the documentary "Amare Gio Ponti", directed and edited by Francesca Molteni, dedicated to the great 20th century Maestro: a portrait of the man and the architect, aspiring painter, ante litteram promoter of Italian design.
The event was also attended by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Predrag Puharić, who greeted the participants and thanked the Italian Embassy for organising the event.
The screening," the Embassy reported in a note, "was followed by a dialogue between Molteni herself, Ambassador of Italian Design, and Stjepan Roš, Professor Emeritus of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, moderated by Samina Tanović, President of the Association of Designers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ULUPUBiH).
The event, focused this year on the theme 'Inequalities. Design for a better life', in dialogue with the forthcoming International Exhibition at the Milan Triennale, once again highlighted the importance of design - a combination of tradition and technology - as a tool for promoting 'Made in Italy', as part of the 'diplomacy for growth' strategy launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
