The Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, accompanied by the head of the AICS Office in Islamabad, Francesco Zatta, today visited the Don Bosco Technical Training Centre in Lahore, the largest Salesian institute in Pakistan. On the occasion," reads a note, "the ambassador handed over 825 scholarships financed by Italy through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation to young Pakistanis from the most disadvantaged communities, particularly Christian ones, but also including Muslim students.
Through the Belief project (Welfare, Empowerment, Work, Education and Training) entrusted to the execution of the Trade Union Institute for Development Cooperation (Iscos), the Don Bosco educational community in Pakistan will promote the vocational training and education of young Pakistanis in professional sectors, such as carpentry, electricity, aesthetics, tailoring, IT, etc. Also present at the ceremony were Paolo Pozzo and Eugenio Mozzarelli from Iscos.
Looking ahead, Italy is also thinking about training Pakistani workers in professional profiles that are in short supply in the Italian labour market, including Italian language courses.
