AS Roma said Wednesday that they have
sacked club legend Daniele De Rossi as their coach after the
team's poor start to the Serie A season.
"The club's decision is made in the best interests of the team,
to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time
when the season is still in its early stages," said Roma, who
are 16th in Serie A with three points from four games.
"A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be at home at
the Giallorossi club, for the work he has done in recent months
with passion and dedication.
"Communication regarding the team's technical guidance will
follow".
The former Italy midfielder was initially given the job n a
caretaker basis when Roma sacked Jose Mourinho in January, but
he was subsequently put in charge permanently after the team's
fortunes picked up under him in the second half of last season.
