The government's just approved and
controversial 'differentiated autonomy' law must not create
further imbalances between affluent northern regions and
worse-off southern ones, Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal
Pietro Parolin said Wednesday.
"It is all good that which helps to increase solidarity and
therefore differentiated autonomy must be implemented in such a
way as not to create further imbalances, further
differentiations and inequalities between one part of Italy and
another", said Parolin, replying to journalists on the sidelines
of an event in the Senate.
But he stressed that the Holy See, however, has "no specific
competence" to intervene in Italian political issues.
