The OSCE Office for Democratic
Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has launched an election
observation mission for Albania's parliamentary elections on May
11. The mission, led by Ambassador Lamberto Zannier, consists of
12 international experts based in Tirana and 26 long-term
observers who will be deployed throughout the country beginning
April 10. An additional 300 short-term observers will travel to
Tirana a few days before Election Day. The mission will evaluate
the elections' adherence to OSCE commitments, other
international obligations and standards for democratic
elections, and national legislation.
