Civil Protection Minister Nello
Musumeci on Friday signed a decree to declare a state of
extraordinary mobilization of the national civil protection
service for the Emilia-Romagna region amid a weather alert for
torrential rain and flooding.
The measure was necessary to deal with a critical situation
after a fresh bout of bad weather pummelled the region, creating
a situation of danger for the safety of residents and the
security of public and private property, local authorities said.
The measure was requested by Emilia-Romagna Governor Michele de
Pascale and approved by the National civil protection
department.
