All centre-left opposition groups in
the Lower House on Thursday called on Premier Giorgia Meloni to
report to parliament on the state of the implementation of the
National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
The request was made at the beginning of the morning session
after the Audit Court had reported earlier on Thursday that
Italy was in line with targets set out in the NRRP and the
National Complementary Plan (NCP) examined in 2024 but critical
issues would require monitoring ahead of a June 2026 deadline.
Press reports have also claimed that Economy Minister Giancarlo
Giorgetti allegedly intends to ask for an extention of the
deadline until 2027.
Lawmakers from the Democratic Party (PD), Five-Star Movement
(M5S), Green-Left Alliance (AVS), Azione and Italia Viva (IV)
intervened, demanding a full report.
"We ask for an urgent report to clarify the situation of the
NRRP", said PD lawmaker Piero De Luca.
The premier should be "transparent" as "the government has the
"duty to explain, this situation cannot be tolerated anymore",
he said.
