Giuseppe Proia, CEO of Str92 from
Fontana Liri near Frosinone, the company in charge of railway
work with which Italian rail agency Rete Ferroviaria Italiana
(RFI) suspended a contract over a malfunction in the Rome
railway network that paralyzed train traffic around the capital
on Wednesday, said the company is trying to determine "exactly
what happened yesterday".
"Before speaking, we want to have a clear picture of what
happened", Proia told ANSA.
"We have not appointed a lawyer yet and we haven't taken a
decision regarding the suspension of the contract with RFI.
"Before anything, we want to clear our ideas", he concluded.
A worker with the private firm has been accused of hammering a
nail into a cable, causing huge rail disruption due to technical
issues at Rome's Termini and Tiburtina stations which led to the
cancellation of over 100 trains Wednesday and major delays.
