A government meeting at Palazzo Chigi
on Wednesday to discuss a Summit on Peace and Security in
Ukraine scheduled to be held Thursday in Paris focused on the
implementation of a future ceasefire in which a possible role of
the United Nations to police it is gaining ground, according to
a statement issued by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's office.
"The theme of the implementation and monitoring of the
ceasefire, on which a possible role of the United Nations, long
supported by the Italian government, is gaining ground" was
discussed at the meeting Wednesday, said the note.
The gathering summoned by Meloni at Palazzo Chigi on Wednesday
was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani
(via video link), the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, and the Minister
of Defense, Guido Crosetto.
Meloni is to take part in the Summit on Peace and Security of
Ukraine convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in the
French capital and featuring the so-called coalition of the
willing.
