Launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Design Day is an annual initiative conceived to promote the history and modernity of Italian design and architecture around the world, and to foster the exchange of experiences and innovative practices.
Now in its ninth edition, this year the initiative proposes the theme "Inequalities - Design for a Better Life", which emphasises the role of design as a tool to improve people's quality of life and address inequalities in contemporary society.
The Italian Design Day 2025 also constitutes a platform to enhance the Salone del Mobile in Milan, which will take place from 8 to 13 April, and the Triennale di Milano, scheduled from 13 May to 9 November 2025. Founded in 1961, the Salone represents the world's leading trade fair in the field of design and the furniture industry. Hosted since 1923 and recognised by the Bureau International des Expositions, the Triennale is one of the largest art exhibitions dedicated to design in Italy and is held periodically in Milan.
In Hanoi, the ninth edition of the Italian Design Day included the screening of a documentary dedicated precisely to the Milan Triennale, with an event organised at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with La Triennale di Milano, HUCE University and the Design Alliance Association of Asia.
