The director of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Roberto Alesse, signed in Brasilia a Memorandum of Understanding on customs cooperation with the deputy special secretary of the Brazilian Receita Federal, Adriana Gomes Rêgo, in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Brazil, Alessandro Cortese, and the undersecretary for Customs Administration, Fabiano Coelho. this was reported by the Italian Embassy in Brasilia in a note, according to which "the Customs Agreement is the result of intense cooperation between our country and Brazil, relaunched in 2023 with the visit to Italy of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva".
"The customs cooperation agreement, signed with the Authority that has the same competences as the Agency in Brazil, aims at exchanging useful information, sharing our best practices to combat customs violations more effectively, and creating a safer and more transparent environment for economic operators, in support of even faster and more efficient trade," explained Alesse.
Brazil plays a major role for many Italian companies (there are about a thousand of them there) and the Customs and Monopolies Agency, with the intense activity carried out by Alesse in the field of international relations, is committed to establishing fruitful cooperation in customs matters with all those countries that offer Italy new opportunities for growth and development.
Ambassador Cortese wished to emphasise the importance of the Memorandum: "Italy and Brazil are linked by consolidated trade relations, which data show are constantly growing, and it is essential that this flow of goods and services is supported by clear regulations and streamlined and efficient bilateral cooperation, to the benefit of the companies and citizens of both countries".
In Brasilia, Director Alesse also met with the Secretary of Public Security of the Federal District, Sandro Torres Avelar, with whom he had an interesting exchange of views on the fight against organised crime and the protection of lawful trade, as a guarantee for citizens and the many operators who work every day in compliance with the rules and the law. Tomorrow, Alesse will fly to Sao Paulo to continue his mission in Brazil.
