Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani on Wednesday advised Italians working in Lebanon
to leave the Middle East country amid an escalating conflict
between Israel and Hezbollah.
"We have always advised Italians who work in Lebanon to leave
the country as soon as possible," said Tajani in response to a
question on the sidelines of the assembly of European People's
Party (EPP) MEPs.
"There are still flights from Beirut to the West. So we advise
them to leave the country at this time," added the minister,
specifying that there are no more than 300 Italians who are in
Lebanon for work.
The situation is different for the approximately 3,000 Italians
who have dual citizenship and who have no interest in leaving
the country.
