Some Italian police officers were
attacked Thursday during a drug sweep in Quarticciolo, on the
outskirts of Rome, police said Friday.
It all started, they said, when a man of North African origins,
stopped together with a woman because they were caught dealing
drugs, resisted arrest by kicking the officers in an attempt to
escape.
At that point, about twenty people arrived and attacked the
officers, spraying pepper spray at them, thus allowing the
arrested man to escape, police said.
The man was later tracked down.
