Kenyan coffee, celebrated worldwide for its extraordinary quality, will once again be the protagonist at the International Exhibition of Ice Cream, Confectionery, Artisan Bakery and Coffee (Sigep) in Rimini, for the 2025 edition. Thanks to the support of the Italian Cooperation, through the 'Arabika' initiative, seven representatives of coffee producer cooperatives from Kenya will participate in this important international showcase, with the aim of consolidating trade relations with Italian and global operators.
Since 2021, Arabika, an initiative supported by Italy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci) and the Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), has been supporting small coffee producers in Kenya. The participation of the Kenyan cooperatives at Sigep 2025 will be enriched by a series of initiatives aimed at promoting the unique qualities of local coffee and fostering strategic partnerships: a visit to a roasting plant near Bologna is planned, where Kenyan farmers will have the opportunity to learn about Italian technologies and operating standards in the sector.
Two events are also planned during the event: a guided tasting session (20 January, from 4 to 4.45 p.m. at the 'Sustainability District'), during which the brands of origin developed with Italian support will also be presented, and a high-level event dedicated to the collaboration of the Italian system with partner countries (21 January, from 11 to 11.30 in the 'Vision Plaza') with the participation of the director of AICS, Marco Riccardo Rusconi, the director of the Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies (Ice/Ita), Lorenzo Galanti, and the attaché for agriculture at the Kenyan embassy in Italy, Anthony Muriithi.
