President Sergio Mattarella stressed
the need for reciprocal respect and dialogue in a civilized
society at the inauguration of the 70th academic year of the
University of Salento on Friday.
"There is a need to find new balances and these must be found
through culture," the head of state said.
"There is a need to reaffirm the centrality of the person, their
rights, their freedom; the call of the cornerstone of European
civilization, which is made of dialogue, reciprocal respect,
debate with attention to others' opinions".
